About Us
You don't have to be new to the Cape to be a Nauset Newcomer!
We were founded in 1977 to provide new residents with opportunities to meet people through social events, educational programs and activities. Today, our 1,100+ members include newcomers, lifelong residents, couples and singles, recently retired, divorced or widowed -- anyone looking to join activities and make new friends! Our year runs September through May, although some activities continue to meet through the summer. Our members are primarily from Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, Truro and Wellfleet, but include residents from all towns on the Cape. Anyone who calls the Cape home is welcome to become a member!

Governance
We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(7) organization. Members approve a slate of new Officers each year at the May meeting, with the prior year's Vice President assuming the role of President. A new Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are also approved and a slate of members are appointed to support the activities of the nine committees that ensure the club's operations. Member Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Wellfleet Cinema, 8:30-11:00 am and include a short business meeting led by the President followed by an informative presentation or entertainment. A transitional meeting takes place in June to ensure smooth operation of the organization.
In addition to Officers, there are nine committees that do the planning and 'behind the scenes' work of the organization -- from fundraising to publicity, planning events and providing technical support. Volunteers are solicited each spring, and members are encouraged to participate in these Committees.
