About Us

You don't have to be new to the Cape to be a Nauset Newcomer!

We were founded in 1977 to provide new residents with opportunities to meet people through social events, educational programs and activities.  Today, our 1,300+ members include newcomers, lifelong residents, couples and singles, recently retired, divorced or widowed -- anyone looking to join activities and make new friends!  Our year runs September through May, although some activities continue to meet through the summer.  Our members are primarily from Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, Truro and Wellfleet, but include residents from all towns on the Cape.  Everyone is welcome to become a member!

Nauset Newcomers:

  • Holds monthly programs and facilitates a wide variety of activities and social events

  • Offers members information about Cape Cod, its history, activities, services and recreational areas

  • Provides residents with opportunities to meet new people and have fun

  • Supports our community through volunteerism, education and financial contributions

Attend a Monthly Meeting!

Nauset Newcomers meet from September through May, on the second Wednesday of each month* at 8:30 -- 11:00 am the Wellfleet Cinema.  Our meetings are open to the public, so join us to experience Nauset Newcomers for  yourself!  You'll enjoy a social hour, meet some great people and hear an informative or entertaining presentation.  We hope you'll join us!

Until further notice, the Monthly General meetings will be held via Zoom ... look for the notice.

We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(7) organization.  Members approve a slate of new Officers each year at the May meeting, with the prior year's Vice President assuming the role of President.  A new Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are also approved.  Short business meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, September to May.  Members Meetings are held at the Wellfleet Cinema, 8:30-11:00am.  A transitional meeting takes place in June to ensure smooth operation of the organization.

In addition to Officers, there are many Committees that do the planning and 'behind the scenes' work of the organization -- from fundraising to publicity, planning events and providing technical support.  Volunteers are solicited each spring, and members are encouraged to participate in these Committees.
